The aging process, illness, and sun damage contribute to facial volume loss, which becomes evident by creases, lines, and folds on the skin.
Fortunately, this is reversible with the revolutionary Sculptra® Aesthetic injectable treatment. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a single-regimen, injectable poly-L-lactic acid treatment used to correct dermal and epidermal skin defects and facial wrinkles by encouraging your body to produce more collagen.
Am I a Candidate for Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Sculptra® Aesthetic may be right for you if your facial skin is starting to show shallow to deep signs of aging. You may have sunken cheeks and temples, a slack chin, fine wrinkles or lines, and loose skin on your jawline. You can also treat folds and wrinkles on your chest with Sculptra® Aesthetic.
Sculptra® injections can also be used in the buttocks to help lift and enhance the derrière region.
The procedure is not recommended for those with rashes, outbreaks, or redness on the skin. If they do, they should wait for these to resolve before visiting the doctor for evaluation. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are also not ideal candidates for the procedure.
You would also not make a good candidate if conditions and diseases like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis, MS, or others compromise your immunity.
If you are on aspirin, blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medication, or other medication, let your provider know of it during the consultation. With this knowledge, they will determine how best to proceed with your treatment.
How Is Sculptra® Aesthetic Performed?
The injectable procedure is straightforward. The doctor starts by applying lidocaine to your skin to numb the chosen area. Your provider then injects the Sculptra® Aesthetic solution into the skin using small needles.
The procedure usually takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the area of coverage. Once done, you can return to your regular activities, but you must ice the treated area as the doctor instructs. We also suggest holding off from vigorous exercise for 24 hours.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is different from many other injectable dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM or the RHA collection, in that it doesn’t provide instant results. This is because it takes time for the body to produce collagen. The initial results are often noticeable after the six weeks, but the full effect may not come for six months after the treatment.
What Is Sculptra® Aesthetic Recovery Like?
After your treatment, you will have little to no downtime. Some people experience redness, swelling, and tenderness at the injection sites, but these should fade within seven to 10 days.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is considered a long-lasting filler, and results have been shown to last 18 to 24 months, although some patients have seen results for longer.
What Results Can I Expect From Sculptra® Aesthetic?
You can expect to see an increased firmness to your skin due to collagen restoration and reinforcement of your skin’s structure. Your skin becomes firmer, smoother, and you gain a more voluminous youthful look.
The results are progressive, and you won’t shock people with sudden changes. People will only see you looking more youthful and beautiful without realizing that you’ve had some work done.
