What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive procedures?

Posted August 28, 2012 in Frequently asked questions

Patients choose cosmetic surgery to change a part of the body that is healthy and normal. Reconstructive surgery is designed to correct an abnormality. This can be a birth defect, disease, physical trauma or other procedure needed to restore the part of the body to normal functioning.
